Eagles Nest Player Development Model

The Eagles Nest Player Development Philosophy provides high-level, structured training to Great River Soccer players who demonstrate a passion for the game of soccer and a commitment to developing their skills through concentrated training. The development Academy supplements the players Recreational and Competitive soccer commitments.

The Academy emphasizes: individual, skills-based training with an emphasis on beating defenders in a 1v1 situation, small-sided games, as well as developing creative, inspiring risk takers in a fun environment that fosters confidence.

Camp Instructor

The camp instructor for Eagles Nest Training is Arnold Changamire. Arnold is a long time High School Varsity coach in Becker, MN. He also has coached Competitive Club Soccer for many years.  He holds multiple levels of coaching licenses. Holds the position of Player Development and Coaching Director with the GRSC.

Eagle Nest Training is divided onto age groups to make the training the most beneficial for all players. The age groups are:

Stage 1-Birth years 2013 to 2011, 9:30am to 10:30 am.

Stage 2- Birth years 2010 to 2008, 10:45am to 11:45am.

Stage 3- Birth years 2007 to 2005, 12:00pm to 1:30pm.

Each stage will be offered 3 sessions per winter. You can enroll in a single session, two sessions or all 3 sessions. The sessions will build on each other but you don't need to join all 3 to get the benefit of the training. In the 2019/2020 season the dates of the sessions are as follows:

Session 1 2019- November- 2rd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and December 7th and 14th.

Session 2 2020 - January 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and February 1st and 8th.

Session 3 2020- February 22nd, 29th, March 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

Training costs

The costs are as follows:

Each session(age 7 and up) is $80.00 per session. If you sign up for all 3 sessions when you register you will receive a discount and get all 3 sessions for $200.00.

Each Player will receive a camp T-shirt. Players will be provided with balls for use during the training. Players are responsible for having appropriate foot wear, water and shin guards.

What will Eagle Nest Training do for the player?

There are 6 main skills that the training program will develop. Each of the 6 skills has many sub components that will be taught with Step by Step instruction.

The 6 Skills along with sub components are:

1. Ball Mastery- The foundation
    - Dribbling- Most Fundamental skill needed.
    - Beating the defender- 24 skills e.g.- Rollover, outside cut, start-stop.

2. Passing and Receiving
    - Driven, Laces, Chipped, Bent, Reverse-no-look, Outside, No Look, Back heel.

3. Movement off the ball- Principles of attack.
    - Penetration
    - Width
    - Mobility
    - Improvisation and Creativity

4. Finishing
    - Driven shot
    - Finesse shot
    - Volley/Half Volley

5. Technical needs
    - Receiving the ball and coping with pressure
    - Passing
    - 1v1, Dynamic attacking players
 6. Team defending
  - Individual defending with in team concept
   - Pressure, cover balance
