GRSC Committees

Great River Soccer Club is a registered non-profit youth sports organization, managed and run by volunteers like you.  Our Board of Directors and Committee Members are all volunteer parents in the Club, with children playing in our Recreational and/or Competitive soccer programs.  

GRSC is always happy to talk to individuals willing to help make our Club stronger.  Regardless of which program your child participates in, we are interested in parents who will consider the needs of each individual, and who will dedicate themselves to the management and improvement of our Club as a whole.

GRSC needs parent volunteers for the following committee positions for the 2022 season:

Committee Info:

Marketing, Communication & Social Media

  1. Time Commitment: Through the soccer year, meeting regularly at first tapering to monthly or quarterly.
  2. Number of Members: 4-5
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Review current marketing and determine plan for the year
    2. Create calendar of marketing to ensure plan is executed in designed
    3. Work with parents to determine the best communication methods
    4. Decide on purpose for Social Media accounts and develop a plan to execute that purpose

SportsEngine Alternative Review, Website Format & Content Update

  1. Time Commitment: 3-6 months, meeting bi-weekly during the planning phase then monthly through competition.
  2. Number of Members: 3-4
  3. Committee Tasks:
      1. Review Demos of SportsEngine alternatives and determine pros and cons of transitioning to each of those options
      2. Determine what other systems may be impacted by the change and what options can be used to mitigate any adverse impact
      3. Propose a path forward to the board
      4. Update website organization on new system or within SportsEngine to make website user friendly
      5. Update content of website to ensure it is up to date, clear, and concise

Sponsorship/Fundraising

  1. Time Commitment: Monthly or as needed
  2. Number of Members: 6+
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Determine fundraising goals; provide guidance for Board on meeting fundraising goals; track progress toward fundraising goals
    2. Review all previous year fundraising activity including Annual Appeal and make recommendations for improvements for new fiscal year.
    3. Work with GRSC board to plan and execute fundraising events.
    4. Maintain shared fundraising calendar.
    5. Analyze relationships with current and prospective major donors, sponsors and funders, and develop individualized strategies to cultivate or strengthen those relationships.
    6. Along with President, meet with current and prospective major donors and funders (foundations and corporations).
    7. Tap respective networks for potential donors of money, time and in-kind support

Events, Parades & Community Happenings

  1. Time Commitment: Through the soccer year, meeting regularly at first tapering to monthly or as needed.
  2. Number of Members: 4-5
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Create calendar of local community events, ensuring all communities are represented, and determine which would be beneficial for GRSC to be represented at
    2. Complete all application process for parades/events
    3. Plan and prepare for participation in parades/events
    4. Work to obtain additional volunteers to help with final event preparation and execution as needed

Tournament & Rec Jamboree Planning and Hosting

  1. Time Commitment: Through the soccer year, meeting biweekly to monthly at first tapering to monthly or quarterly.
  2. Number of Members: 5-6
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Determine calendar of deadlines of tasks involved in hosting each event
    2. Brainstorm ideas to make each even successful, and fun.
    3. Create budget for events
    4. While working on overall plans create subcommittees to work ideas and tasks of each event and execute those tasks
    5. Work to obtain additional volunteers to help with event preparation and execution as needed

GRSC Gear

  1. Time Commitment: Through the soccer year, meeting regularly at first tapering to monthly or quarterly.
  2. Number of Members: 2-3
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Determine when GRSC gear items should be sold
    2. Determine if Rally Gear will remain supplier or if others should be added to or replace them.
    3. Work with suppliers to plan and design store items
    4. Determine needs to execute sales and deliver products

Coaching the GRSC way

  1. Time Commitment: Through the soccer year, meeting regularly at first tapering to monthly or quarterly.
  2. Number of Members: 4-5
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Determine best practices to ensure a positive, growth mindset-based environment with a consistent quality of coaching
    2. Determine best way to communicate GRSC best practices and expectations to coaches
    3. Create any documents to be used to train coaches or by coaches

Fields, Facilities, Equipment, & Supplies

  1. Time Commitment: Meets roughly quarterly
  2. Number of Members: 4-5
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Evaluate current condition of equipment and determine what needs to be discarded or repaired.
    2. Evaluate Field, Facility, and Equipment needs and communicate to board with costs
    3. Create a schedule or plan for equipment replacement or repairs
    4. Create an annual budget to be used for equipment and facility repairs or replacement

Recreational Soccer

  1. Time Commitment: Though the year, meeting monthly or as needed. 
  2. Members: 2 parents in addition to the GRSC President, Recreational Director, Assistant Recreational Director, and Director of Coaching and Player Development.
  3. Committee tasks:
    1. Review past rec. soccer years and parent feedback, brainstorm ideas for improvement of the program
    2. Work with Tournament and Jamboree Committee to plan and execute Rec. Jamboree
    3. Plan for season needs
    4. Determine how to best divide players based on registrations
    5. Determine where additional assistance is needed to provide a quality experience to players and recruit those volunteers

Competitive Committee

  1. Time Commitment: Duration of board term
  2. Members: The following board members are on the committee:
    1. Todd Elfstrom, GRSC President
    2. Christian Filiaggi, Competitive Director
    3. Sarah Laugen, Assistant Competitive Director
    4. Nick Crowley, Director of Coaching and Player Development
  3. Committee Tasks:
    1. Work with team management to ensure a quality experience for all players
    2. Form teams based on player data and registration information, with player development the top priority
    3. Review all competitive related issues and address as appropriate
    4. Work with club registrar to ensure teams are accurate in US Soccer Connect
    5. Provide support to teams through the season
