Below you will find the information regarding the 2019 summer Academy. The academy is open to those turning 8, 9 and 10 in 2020.
The purpose and goals of the summer academy is to get a more in-depth look into potential 2020 players as to their true skills and ability. While player evaluations are a method to measure skills and ability, the Summer Academy will give the GRSC a chance to see players for more than 1 hour during evaluations. This will facilitate us in placing them on the proper level team for the 2020 season. The Summer Academy will be used in conjunction with coaches evaluations, coaching directors evaluation and Club player evaluations.
While the Summer Academy is not mandatory, it is highly recommended for those players looking to earn a roster spot on a higher level team at the U9 and U10 age group.
We are also gauging if there is an opportunity to create a SUPER 8 team. A SUPER 8 team is a team of 8 year olds competing at the U9 level.
All current GRSC Recreational and Competitive players, boys and girls, born in 2010, 2011 and 2012 are eligible to participate in this program.
There is no charge for participating in the summer academy. The GRSC feels this is an important and necessary program to make the proper decisions when placing players on teams, so the club is covering the costs.
We do ask that those that choose to participate have a genuine interest in joining our competitive program.
The Summer Academy will meet at the following times and days. It will run for 4 weeks during the month of June. You may attend all 4 sessions or only those sessions you are able to attend. Boys will meet on Sunday nights at 6pm and girls will meet on Sunday nights at 7 pm. All sessions will take place at Bertram athletic park in Monticello.
Session dates are- June 2, 9, 16 and 23rd.
The main coaching will be done by the clubs Director of Player Development, Arnold Changamire, with assistance from some of our other experienced coaches.
Each player that attends will receive an evaluation after the sessions are completed so they know where they stand in comparison to the other kids in their age group. It will not rank them but it will let them know their strong points and the skills they need to work on prior to the Player evaluations in July and team placements.
